Comprising singers from the University of Oxford and further afield, the Newman Consort seeks to bring together some of the area’s finest young musicians to enhance the liturgy and to unlock the treasures of the Catholic sacred music repertoire. We currently provide music for the Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham in Oxford every Saturday evening.
In addition, we have sung regularly at St William of York, working closely with the clergy of the Priestly Fraternity of St Peter there, and at St Birinus, Dorchester. We have also sung for services at St Patrick, Soho Square, SS Gregory and Augustine, Blessed Dominic Barberi, and St Aloysius, Oxford. Among the liturgical services at which we have sung are: Mass (Ordinary Form and Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite), Solemn Evensong and Benediction (Ordinariate Use and Book of Divine Worship), Solemn Terce, Nine Lessons and Carols, Rite of Ordination, and Readings and Music for Passiontide.
